„Nostalgia Urbana“ 12 Concert works for Piano Solo (Transcribed, adapted, edited and fingered for piano solo by Ilan Rogoff)

These transcriptions from recordings of Maestro Piazzolla and other interpreters of his works are motivated by the lack of playable compositions for piano solo. Exisiting scores generally consist of a numbered bass with simplistic ‘copying’ of a melodic line. Since Piazzolla wanted his music to belong on the ‘classical’ concert stage, the present transcriptions with suggested dynamics, pedalling, sluring and fingering allows pianists to include these works in a traditional piano recital.

Volksrhythmen und -melodien sind ein integraler Bestandteil der Werke von Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Dvorak, Debussy, Ravel, Sibelius, Tschaikowsky, Mussorgsky, Smetana, Mahler, Strauss, Wagner und anderer…

The apparent breach between classical and Folk Music is far less than we are accustomed to believe, as many composers draw inspiration from the culture in which they are nourished. Folk rhythms and melodies form an integral part of works by Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Dvorak, Debussy, Ravel, Sibelius, Tchaikowsky, Mussorgsky, Smetana, Mahler, Strauss and Wagner among others…
