William Boyce was born in 1711 in Maiden’s Lane (now Skinners’ Lane) in the City of London. His exact date of birth is unknown but he was baptised on 11 September at St. James’s Garlickhythe, the church opposite the family’s home. He became a chorister at St. Paul’s Cathedral before studying composition with Maurice Greene…
