Have you ever wondered what would happen if you had a magic musical lens that could zero in on very small areas of the music world, the way Google Earth is able to do with some street in the most remote village in the planet?
You need wonder no longer.
Amethyst Edition has, again, broken new ground by doing precisely that with the publication of the ambitious Vestfold Psyklus.

Vestfold is a county in Southeast Norway with just over 253.000 inhabitants.
Ensemble KammerKlang is a performing group founded in Vestfold in 2019. From its very inception, it has adhered to the policy of inviting local composers to write miniatures – lasting from 1 to 3 minutes – for the ensemble. The ensemble premieres at least one new miniature in every single concert production. A suite of 5 to 7 Psyklus movements is put together for every program.
Why a „Psyklus“ and not simply a „Syklus“ (cycle)? Because this ever changing mosaic of small movements exists in order to document and chronicle the creative Zeitgeist of the Vestfold county; its psychological state.
With its 37 titles comprising 41 distinct pieces by 23 composers, Vestfold Psyklus is remarkable in its wide diversity of styles and in the sheer quality and authenticity of the music it contains.

…should we choose to zero out from the county with our magical lens, would soon reveal itself to be a microcosm of the present global state of musical creativity.
We invite music ensembles everywhere to discover these small gems.
