Salomon Jadassohn composed a total of four symphonies over the course of just under three decades: in 1860, at the age of just 29, he made his public debut with his Symphony No. 1 in C major, Op. 24,1 whilst his Symphony No. 4 in C minor, Op. 101, in 1888 marked his final contribution to the genre.2 At the turn of the 19th century, Jadassohn was a respected teacher at the Leipzig Conservatoire with an international reputation, as evidenced on the one hand by his students hailing from across the world at that time, and on the other by his music theory textbooks, which were
