After launching “Opera Quarta” of the Periodical Overtures with a work by Gaetano Pugnani (1731–1798), publisher Robert Bremner (c.1713–1789) chose to continue his only “all-Italian” opus of six symphonies with another composer who—like Pugnani—had not previously appeared in the series: Niccolò Piccinni (Piccini) (1728–1800).
