Preface
Ture Rangström, born in Stockholm, Sweden, was one of the most important Swedish song composers and belonged to the last ones who composed in the Romantic style. Rangström, who studied composition and singing in Berlin and Munich, pursued a wide-ranging career. Throughout his time as a professional musician he served as a music critic, conductor, voice teacher, and composer. As a music critic, he worked for three Swedish newspapers: Svenska Dagbladet, Stockholms Dagblad, and Nya Dagligt Allehanda, as chief conductor he led the Göteburg Orchestral Society from 1922 to 1925 and made several guest conducting appearances performing his own pieces, and a composer, he belonged to the founding members of the Swedish Society of Composers, along with several other Swedish composers, such as Kurt Atterberg, Hugo Alfven, Oskar Lindberg, Wilhelm Peterson-Berger, and Wilhelm Stenhammar. …
