The Edition Stiftung International is primarily dedicated to chamber music of the 18th and 19th centuries. Particular attention is paid to compositions that have been relegated to a shadowy existence in libraries and archives, but whose intrinsic value justifies their publication The preparation of the sources takes into account the requirements of informed performance practice as well as the demands of practical realisation in concert performance. Similarly, aspects of continuity
and scholarly research have been incorporated into the basic ideas of this edition.
The works have been divided into six distinct groups. This reflects the broad repertoire of musical life at the time. The Italian subtitles correspond to the widespread practice in the 18th and 19th centuries of labelling smaller compositions in this way. There is no further subdivision.
